Main conference venue
The main ANZCA 2019 conference will be held at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House (MoAD). MoAD is a living museum of social and political history, located in a nationally listed heritage building in Parkes, Canberra.
A floor plan of the venue detailing the main conference location is shown below.
All-day parking passes are available for $14 per day. As there is limited all-day parking at the venue, the museum’s website provides details for those wishing to use public transport to get to and from the conference.
MOAD is wheelchair accessible, with signposted accessible parking available at the front of the building.
Behind the Scenes Tours
We are delighted to offer delegates a free, daily tour of the building’s Press Gallery during the conference. Come with a MoAD guide into the world of the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery from the 1920s to the 1980s.
See the conditions journalists worked under, consider the connections between the Parliament and the Press and discuss the impact of changing technologies on headlines and deadlines.
30 minute tours will run daily at 12.30pm, 3–5 July.
Bookings essential as places are limited.
Conveniently located within the Parliamentary Triangle in the inner south of Canberra, the venue is within walking distance of the hotels listed on our accommodation page.
Several cultural institutions are also within an easy walk of the venue, including the National Library of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery, and Questacon.
